What MacGames does for it.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (Witcher 3) is a Windows game. MacGames brings the parts it needs to run on a Mac, and sets them up for you.

DirectX 12 through Metal
Apple's D3DMetal turns the game's DirectX 12 calls into Metal.
A fix for a shader crash
A small proxy for the game's AMD FidelityFX loader refuses the pipelines that Apple's shader converter cannot build. The original file is kept.
Straight into the game
The game reports Windows 11 and skips its own launcher.
One Steam for your games
The game installs into the shared Steam library, so you sign in to Steam once for all your games.
