What MacGames does for it.

Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) is a Windows game. MacGames brings the parts it needs to run on a Mac, and sets them up for you.

  • DirectX 12 through Metal

Apple's D3DMetal turns the game's DirectX 12 calls into Metal.

  • A Rockstar Games Launcher that works

The launcher draws through Wine's own renderer, while the game uses D3DMetal.

  • One Rockstar setup

Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA San Andreas share one Steam and one Rockstar Games Launcher.
